Medisoft
Medisoft is the MEDIpix read-out SOFTware package developed by the University and INFN of Napoli for the Medipix Collaboration.
- Medisoft 2.x versions are able to control Medipix1 read-out hardware based on VME (National Instrument PCI card and VME controller and LABEN custom VME board).
- Medisoft 3.x versions are running under LabWindows and provide the control of the Medipix1 read-out hardware based on PCI/ISA cards (National Instruments analog and digital cards) and the NIKHEF MUROS1 custom interface.
At present, four versions are available:
- Medisoft2.1, released in September 1999
- Medisoft2.2, similar to 2.1, but including a better handling of different hardware; released in January 2000
- Medisoft 3.0, the software version released in May 2000. It provides almost all functions for the Medipix read-out available through NIKHEF MUROS1 electronics. Latest adjustments and corrections are made available via the Medisoft 3.1.1 version.
- Medisoft 3.1.1, the very latest software version for the NIKHEF MUROS1 interface released in November 2000.
The latest version includes the following additional features: 1) Vth threshold scan 2) Display of pixel counts histogram 3) High frame-rate acquisitions (up to reportedly 100 fps, 30% duty cycle) and 4) externally triggered acquisitions via a National Intruments PCI-1200 board. Software is perfectly working without the PCI-1200 board, but without triggering.
It requires the AO board configured in unipolar mode.
Members of the Collaboration can download 1) the source code (requires National Instruments LabWindows/CVI) 2) the executable file and an auto-installing executable package (setup.exe) (no additional software required but NI-DAQ drivers).
NB: Due to a National Instruments backward incompatibility, this 3.1.1 version requires the NI-DAQ 6.8 library package (drivers usually provided with the NI boards) to be installed on your system. Different NI-DAQ versions are not directly supported by Medisoft 3.1.1 executables. For a copy of the 6.8 NI-DAQ drivers, please contact your National Instruments supplier or the software assistance below.
